PicturesCavill found instant stardom when he was cast as Superman for Zack Snyder's 2013 movie "Man of Steel." The movie would go on to make over $670 million worldwide, and though Cavill might have gotten a little taste of what the movie took in after all the money was counted, at the start, he received $300,000 upfront, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Not bad, as some who have put on superhero tights for the first time have recieved much less. Chris Hemsworth was paid just $150,000 for the first Thor movie.

Watch “Apocalypse Now” (1979), “Full Metal Jacket” (1987) or “Platoon” (1986) and you should know what war really means. “Ungentlemanly Warfare” features a disreputable band of riff raff brought together for a super-secret mission. Ritchie makes no such concessions to authenticity in “Ungentlemanly Warfare.”Henry Cavill is Gus March-Phillips in Guy Ritchie’s “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." Even when a war movie doesn’t actively mislead you, the promise of being privy to an unvarnished, authentic and extreme experience can be seductive. “It would decay in eternal peace.”Compared to that kind of cult of authentic war, “Ungentlemanly Warfare” feels fairly harmless, and not in a bad way.

Leonardo DiCaprio was in talks to star in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," director Zack Snyder said. If DiCaprio had taken the role, it would have broken his "no superhero movies" rule. AdvertisementLeonardo DiCaprio was one of the actors in talks to play Lex Luthor in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," director Zack Snyder said. He followed it up with "Batman v Superman" in 2015, which pits Batman (Ben Affleck) against Superman (Henry Cavill), while Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) pulls the strings from the shadows and experiments with Kryptonian technology. I think DiCaprio, he had a lot of great ideas actually just in the meeting.

Read previewHenry Cavill has moved past his scrapped Superman return and onto new projects, but he can still crack jokes about what could have been. In his introductory remarks before a screening of his new Guy Ritchie movie "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" attended by Business Insider, Cavill made a subtle dig at his Man of Steel drama with DC Studios and WB. While praising his collaboration with Ritchie, Cavill noted that he'd worked with the director before, when he had a lead role in the 2015 spy film "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." I will, after all, not be returning as Superman," Cavill wrote. He also reunited with Ritchie already for the director's upcoming 2025 film "In the Grey," which will also re-team him with his "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" costar Eiza González.

And since the Apple-made movies are expressly built to be shown on its Apple TV+ streaming service, Apple can't make money selling them to a different streamer. Apple, movies, and TV: Why? And the second obvious answer is that Apple needs Apple TV+ because it's increasingly focused on making money from "services" as iPhone sales slow down. Apple has managed to grow Apple TV+ meaningfully after a rocky start. Still, even in the best-case scenario, Apple TV+ is a sliver of the $85 billion Apple made from services last year.

Henry Cavill has weighed in on the debate surrounding the use of sex scenes in film and TV. I'm not a fan," Cavill said, agreeing with Vaughn, who said he "can't get my head around sex scenes." The " Witcher " actor said there are occasions where he thinks sex scenes are "beneficial" to a film's narrative, "but I think sometimes they're overused these days." "It's when you have a sense where you're going, 'Is this really necessary or is it just people with less clothing on?'" Explaining the online resistance to sex scenes, some have pointed to the fact that younger generations, millennials and Gen Zers, have different attitudes than older audiences.

CNN —“Superman” star Henry Cavill has revealed that he’s “not a fan” of on-screen sex scenes. The British actor, who stars in newly released movie “Argylle,” suggested graphic love scenes can sometimes feel gratuitous. He said: “Sex scenes can be great in a movie, they can really help with the storytelling, but most of the time the human imagination is going to trump it. “Argylle,” which CNN reviewer Brian Lowry described as a “fun, highly stylized” spy thriller, was released February 2 in the United Kingdom and United States.

CNN —After a trio of “Kingsman” movies, director Matthew Vaughn essentially hits the reset button with “Argylle,” another fun, highly stylized and less violent spy movie. Cast to the hilt, the film proves inventively twisty if a little convoluted, with the modest disclaimer that it’s not as good as the trailer makes it look. Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell as an author and spy, respectively, in "Argylle." As Elly’s guide on this overwhelming journey, Rockwell steals the show, presenting a more human-scale spy who still does amazing things with smart-alecky wit and bravado. As noted, Vaughn’s work stands out for its energetic and playful approach to action, which is very much in evidence here.

DC Studios announced the first wave of movies and TV shows for the new DC universe. There are also aspects of the old DC movie universe — but it still shows promise. The slate, titled "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters," is, to put it plainly, bizarre — and even a bit risky. If anything, it's still a bit of the old DC Extended Universe. If Gunn and Safran wanted to keep any aspects of the old DC movie universe, they picked the right ones.
His name is Swamp Thing, and he is returning to the big screen with his own horror movie on a revamped DC Studios slate. In DC Comics, Swamp Thing interacts with several other characters' storylines, making him a common thread throughout the greater DC Universe, often helping to save it. Fans on Tuesday reveled in DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn's plans to bring the superhero back into the cinematic mix. loading“Makes sense, if they want to cover the corners of established parts of DC, Swamp Thing is a must,” The Raven's Lofttweeted. loadingJosh Parker also tweeted: "I'm honestly really glad we're getting Swamp Thing back."
It’s not that theatrical film exhibition was in a particularly good place before the pandemic. Yet the astounding box-office figures of 2022 tell a different story: Movie theaters didn’t become obsolete. It offered up the best of the moviegoing experience: spectacle, plus quality, plus rewatchability. But best of all, the hunger for the overly familiar was not the only story to be told this year. But if the pandemic-era absence of theatrical releases proved one thing, it’s that people love going to the movies, really love it, and not just to see Marvel movies.
Sadly, “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” Netflix’s new spinoff, is a disappointment. Not that the original “Witcher” wholly depended on Cavill as its titular lead. “Blood Origin” is the first live-action spinoff, a prequel deep-dive that chronicles how witchers came to be. Unfortunately, “Blood Origin” doesn’t do much with its excellent pieces. “Blood Origin” just feels like a side quest, something that’s only worthwhile for superfans.
Dwayne Johnson said that "Black Adam" isn't part of the new DC film universe's "first chapter." The movie didn't click with audiences, showing the limits of superhero movies and the Rock's star power. The rest of Johnson's statement read like an obituary, saying that he'll "always look back on the fan reaction to Black Adam with tremendous gratitude." Johnson's damage-control instincts kicked into high gear with "Black Adam," a passion project he spent over a decade trying to make. Black Adam isn't a well-known character, so it was always going to face an uphill battle.
(L-R) Hiram Garcia and Dwayne Johnson attends the "Black Adam" premiere at Cine Capitol on October 19, 2022 in Madrid, Spain. A "Black Adam" sequel won't be part of the next phase of DC movies from Warner Bros. "DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters," Johnson wrote in a tweet. The move comes as Warner Bros. "Black Adam" was among the properties that have been disappointing for Warner Bros.
